Epicor provides a spreadsheet 9.04.502 Security Worksheet.xlsx, call your representative for a copy.
Always use groups when defining security parameters, don't assign menu permissions to individual users.
A user group is a collection of user accounts that all have the same security rights. Create your groups and list them on the first line of the spreadsheet (adjacent to accounting above). Groups should be creatd even if there is only a single member since this facilitates security maintenace when employee's leave or join the organization. The system administrator can then just add/remove an employee from groups instead of re-entering all individual security settings.
To edit security settings->System management->Security Maintenance->Security Group
If you organization's security settings are simple, then there's no need to update any section of the spreadsheet other than the Main Menu section. You can then assume that any green box in the Main Menu section represents a
a green box in the corresponding spreadsheet body (and all it's submenus).
Main Menu section screen shot:
Select the bold menu item under main menu (Sales management, production Management in image above) and follow this Excel row accross the spreadsheet. On each group column, color the cell green if that group has access to that Epicor Menu (or any submenus below), otherwise leave the cell white. Note, once the top
level cell is green, all submenus under it will also be available to those groups, fill them with green (unless that submenu has different permissions than the parent). In the above example, once the accounting-Sales management cell is green, then quote management and order management must also be colored green.
If there is case where a group has partial access to the submenu's, only color the cells green if the group can access that menu. That is the case for the Engineering groups white cell on the above circle material requirements planning row . In this case
Engineering group will not be assigned access to Material planning but does have access to the other green submenus. Any submenus below a white menu should remain white.
If there's a menu item anywhere in the spread sheet below the main section that requires group access removal, copy the Main Menu Section row to the corresponding menu's header row, fill cells under all green submenu items and follow the same steps used in completing the main menu section
For example, copy Order Management spreadsheet row from main menu section to Order management section
Order management header after copy
Order management submenus setup and country rows set green.
Note, only perform green fill down for sections requiring special security settings.
Steps to set Epicor's security settings to match spreadsheet definitions:
Any submenu cell under a green menu cell, should also be colored green
Start Epicor->System Management->Security Maintenance->Menu Maintenance->Select "Sales Management" under Main menu in left pane of Menu Maintenance. In right pane press security tab and allow access tab below.
For each Bold row in Main Menu Column (Excel Rows: Production Management,Materials Management,Financial Management,Executive Analysis,System Management), that doesn't allow everyone permission:

Allow Access->Allow access to all Groups/Users->Uncheck
For every green box in the spreadsheet row, move group name from Groups/Users box to Selected Groups/Users to enable access. If there are no permissions in this row different than the parent, then Allow Access->Allow access to all Groups/Users->Check
Disallow Access Tab->Disallow access to all Groups/Users->UnCheck
Warning: Users assigned security manager options will have access to all menu's regardless of permissions set by above steps. System Management->Security Maintenance->User Security->User id->xxx->Options->Security manager->Checked. Your Epicor system administrators require this permission.
